Dear readers,
Unforeseen events continue to impact the 2025 marketing year after the US administration has made moves to roll back reciprocal tariffs on a range of food imports, including macadamias. While details of m͖ͤ͛w̶̡̩ͬ̕i̙̩̇r̻̹͐x̵̬̗̏o̹̓ͦȋ̩͕͍̚ ō̰̺̪n͉̩̐h̵͓͟ e̥̜͑̂m͉̭̽y̱͓͊͂t̰̠͉ͣč̏͢a̫̼͋a̳̙̐̎aͨ̓͆i͔̖̣̣͠ d̥̱̏g̡͉͛aͮ̒ͤ̀͢ą̞̪̊͆ş̋͑̍ľ̦͇c͕͊̊́̔ will be affected are still forthcoming, it remains that such events instantly change the landscape. Price Spreads
Given limited market visibility, MSM’s volume-weighted daily average price spread calculations should be read as an estimated trendline indicating direction and size rather than as providing detailed statistics. Market Sentiment
The fortunes of macadamia exporters to the US received a potential boost after President Trump announced on Friday, 14 November, that a range of imported foods would no longer be subject to the reciprocal tariffs announced in April this year. Depending on how it rolls out, US importers will equally welcome the announcement as they’ve been faced with the dilemma of how to handle increased costs from the reciprocal tariffs, particularly in the case of c̢̦͠o̸̡͕̓ŗ͉̂͆̌f̚͢͢S̢̙͒ͥ Ä̲̰͛ͯt͖̭́a̦͔͚͐͝u̙̯ͬh̵͖̹ͯ͆ị̴̌͑̋, which was slapped with 3͌ͤͩ͡͏ å̸͚̂̊a͎͗́͐̈́% ĩ̸̱f͋ͧ̋ͩt͓̮ͤ̽̕f̼̈́̈0̣̣̰ͨrͮ̍̕͡.
